Instead, managers are discovering that \u2018coaching-style\u2019 leadership brings out the strengths in a team by focusing on constructive feedback and asking questions instead of giving orders.<\/p>\n<p>Research has shown that businesses who use coaching techniques towards their employees have been able to boost <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/sponsored\/leadership-coaching-for-organizational-success\/\">worker engagement and productivity<\/a><\/u> by around 12%. And 4 out of 5 of those on the receiving end of this approach report that they are <u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarabarrie.com\/uploads\/2017coachingculturemillennialleadersHCIICF.pdf\">working, communicating, and feeling better<\/a><\/u> \u2013 with noticeable boosts to their productivity and business management strategies. It\u2019s no wonder coaching is fast becoming the \u2018next big thing\u2019 in management methods, with 65% of organizations planning to expand their coaching strategies over the next half-decade.<\/p>\n<p>But there\u2019s no need to mystify coaching-style leadership by labeling it as a complex new technique. While some companies are bringing in external coaches to boost performance, making the coaching style work for your business requires first and foremost a change of mindset and the development of a more open workplace culture.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, just switching from making statements to asking questions can already set you along the path of excellence in coaching. Questions inspire trust and spark dialogue. They turn <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.headwaycapital.com\/blog\/12-things-never-say-work\/\">accusations, complaints, and even empty compliments<\/a><\/u> into opportunities to develop.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you\u2019re happy with something an employee has done, telling them \u201cnice job\u201d may give them an instant hit of pride \u2013 but it stops there. Instead, try asking \u201chow did you find that task?\u201d Your pleasure in their performance will still come across, but this way you get to analyze, together, just what made it a success. It shows that you\u2019re engaged in what they do, and not just their results. In short, it demonstrates empathy.<\/p>\n<p>In tougher moments, asking analytical questions can prevent things getting personal.
